That's great service!

I had a very nice experience yesterday in the fishing department at the Roger's, Arkansas Cabela's as a result of a young outfitter named Mitchell.
I had just picked out a new bait casting rod and reel combo when Mitchell walked by and asked if he could help me with anything. I told him I'd found what I was looking for. Seeing the rod and reel in my hand he asked if I'd like him to put line on my new reel "at no charge": I of course said yes.
Mitchell  invited me back behind the reel display area, hooked up my reel to his electric fishing line spooler, and proceeded to fill my new Garcia Abu-Matic with a fresh spool of "Stren Original" 10 lb. green fluorescent fishing line.
In our conversation I had mentioned that I was still using the same fishing knot I'd been using for the past 40 years or so and Mitchell took the time to show me the knot he uses personally. He also recommended a web download that demonstrates a wide variety of popular knots that might come in handy while fishing, camping, boating etc. In my view, I considered the friendly and complimentary service Mitchell had provided a nice little bonus.

Bottom line: I've pointed out several times how you should be cognizant of the ample pricing premium Cabela's puts on a large percentage of the products in their stores. But when you experience great service from knowledgable and friendly folks like I did with Mitchell the outfitter, it goes a long way in  making up for a sizable portion of the premium you might have just forked over on your overall purchase.

  1. So, it would appear from several posts, to the casual observer, that Russ likes Cabella's. Butcep fir the pricing.
